Susan Boyle

Monday, 20. April 2009 5:52

I have watched/listened to her entry in the British competition many times.

I saw a very attractive middle aged lady who, after some time, got the courage to go on a public stage to perform. She knew she could have been laughed off stage. In one news clip she said she began singing at 12 and wanted to be a professional singer. For 35 years she has had her dream that has been set aside for various reasons and this may be her only chance to achieve her dream.

She must have spent hours of practice and hoping, and used great care in her musical selection. Her choice in music was really “Her song” and she sang from her heart. Skill and education can make a good singer, but she sang from her heart and it showed. It gives something that cannot be caught with education and/or skill.

I hope for her that she is offered a great contract by a music studio and her cd’s can shortly be purchased. I intend to own some of them. She has a gift that these younger professionals cannot not hope to have with their lights and movement to distract the listener.

The Dream

Thursday, 5. February 2009 10:01

I am nearer to 80 years old than 70, so this began many years ago. This is a true event in my life.
I was raised by a single Mom. We lived out in the country and did not have a car. I don’t remember my mother reading the Bible to me or telling me Bible stories. We did not go to church as it was too far to walk. One day when I was in the third grade some of the other children came to school and said the world was going to end at noon. They seemed happy and excited about this, I was terrified. They lived in town and could go to church and certainly must be right with God. I knew I was not. I was so happy when noon passed and nothing happended.
After this I had the dream. Jesus came and was taking people to heaven. He did not come all the way to the ground, but was up in the air. And people were flying up to meet Him, but not everyone was going. Those not going, which included me, were reaching up to Him, but we remained where we were. Sometimes I was standing on the ground and sometimes I was in the ground. I always woke up, so frightened, but I didn’t know what to do to make things right between myself and Jesus.
Time passed with the dream reaccuring from time to time. Always the same. I married and worked in my husband’s business. One day a patron came in and started to share Jesus with me. He said he didn’t know why he was doing this, but he understood that I was very interested. He told me that God loved me and wanted things right between us. He said Jesus had taken my sins and died for me, and that if I would pray amd acknowledge my sins, and ask God to forgive me that He would not only forgive me, but would someday take me to Heaven to be with Him. I did this, I did not experience a light as Paul did and have found out since then my experience is most common, generally we just feel so unburdened. But God did forgive me and changed my life. Since asking God to forgive me and asking Jesus into my life I have on occasion still had the dream, but now I am always going. I still wake up when I have the dream, but now it is with great joy.
The Bible tells us we will have dreams. Everything the patron told me was true and scripture affirms it. That Jesus comes and takes some people to Heaven and not others is true, also that He does not touch the earth at this time is also true according to scripture.
If you want things right between you and God, and you acknowledge your sins, go to God in prayer and ask. He sent Jesus to die for you. God loves you and has already demonstrated His love for you. He will forgive you, He wants things right between you and Himself.

Fairy Flowers

Monday, 17. November 2008 10:44

I am a school crossing gurard in Florida. The job requres that I be at a certain location for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. At the morning location I cross few children and have a large amount of waiting time. In the afternoon the first 1/2 hour is waiting for school to let out and then 20 minutes of work. I use the time to walk or pace back and forth. I have noticed in the weeds beside the sidewalk some very tiny flowers. Each bloom is under 1/8 of an inch. They are beautiful. They are blue, dark red, yellow, yellow with a dark center, white and white with a dark center. They have rows of petals, or 4 petals up to a larger number. As I have thought about these tiny blooms I have also thought of the Magnolia bloom, along with the hibiscus and angle tumpet blooms which may measure up to seven inches. As my mediatation I thought of the blooms in trees and the multitude of types of trees.
What an Awesome God we have, to create such variety for us to explore!

WHAT ? ? ?

Monday, 29. May 2006 8:42

What is this country coming to? A while ago I did a little research and found that there are over one million abortions a year in this country alone.
Now we have a date rape drug for those who wish to take advantage of some female. We have viagra to help that fellow who wants more sex, and on the news recently I heard that drug companies are trying to come up with a drug for the women that would induce more interest in sex.
Do we really need this? And if this isn’t appalling enough try watching some of the tv shows where some women are trying to find out who the father of their baby is. And they may have more than one man for the test or on number five or six.
Some time ago a college professor told me that the educated thought that education of the people would solve these problems. ? ? ?
Doesn’t look like education is the answer.

Still Learning

Monday, 9. January 2006 20:43

Computers are not my area of expertise, actually I have no area of expertise, I just sort of blunder along. Recently I thought I needed to make space in my blog and so deleted several entries. One of my daughters excels in computer expertise, she let me know that was a Boo-Boo. Kinda like “Oops!” I may redo some of the items, and then I might not. If you are one of the senior folks who, like me, don’t really understand all of this, please be encouraged. At least we are trying. I have a brother who bought a computer, he has children to help him learn, and this was so he could learn to use email. I’ve never heard from him accept by snail mail and he no longer mentions his computer.
